Here are a few reasons to visit the ‘Founding Mothers of Sultan’ mural at 3rd and Main Street, Sultan.
- The Mural is dramatic, beautifully painted and it’s fun to look into and imagine being there.
- Intense research goes into developing a scene for a mural. One question was what the founding mothers would have at the meal? This scene is from late 1890s, early 1900s so on the table are baked beans, bread rolls, preserves, pickles and the pie would have been apple, and black tea would have been served.
- The Mural is the final mural of artist David Hose, completed by daughter/artist Mary (Hose) Serizawa.
- To learn more about the mural scene and the touching dedication watch the full event held on September 19, 2026, it will be posted early October on the YouTube channel of turkpride.tv
- The Mural is a stop on the ‘Sky Valley Heritage Hunt’. Check it out here
