Sky Valley Arts Council is very pleased to announce that we have received $60,000 to support the restoration of the historic Startup Gym into the ‘Startup Event Center’.  The grant was applied for from the Snohomish County Historic  Preservation Commission’s Community Heritage Program which supports projects that preserve and enhance  Snohomish  County  history  for  residents. When restored the Startup Event Center will offer arts related programs and rent-able spaces in the building and outdoor areas.

The restoration has been progressing with generous volunteer hours, individual donations, business donations and grants.  With this most recent grant we can take on the large expenses related to the restoration and bring the building up to modern day expectations – we are aiming to open in mid August . As we improve the functionality of the building we are also keeping the ‘look & feel’ of the beautiful interior wood trim & floors, the stage arch and classic pane windows … the property will be a lasting community treasure.

The backbone of our restoration progress has been from YOU, the community and each year we choose individuals to recognize for their contribution… in February we honored our 2017 volunteers.
